I started swimming at age seven at the Jefferson Summer Swim League in Charlottesville,
VA and at age nine joined a year round USS team that I competed with until graduating
from high school. I went on to compete in the Big East Division I for Georgetown
University, where I competed for four years and took the school records in the 200
butterfly and the 200 freestyle. I coached a summer swim team of 120 kids ages five to
18 for four years, including two years as head coach. Right now, I'm working on my
masters degree and I work in the emergency department at the Naval Hospital on the
support site. I am married to a high school teacher, and I 've been in the Navy almost
six years
