Awards Program

Although swimming is a team sport, the strength of the team is ultimately due to the
individual success of the swimmers. The Executive Board wishes to honor the hard work and dedication of the
swimmers who reach their individual goals. Therefore, NTS has established the following award programs:
Middle School/High School Letter: A Lettering Program is available for all Middle/High School students in applicable
grades.
The Head Coach is the final approving authority.
1. Must attend a minimum of three (3) practices per week. The Head
Coach may approve all absences beforehand.
2. Must meet DoDDS academic standards for athletes and attend a
minimum of four meets.
End of Season Awards: The NTS may recognize special achievements during an end of season awards banquet.
The head coach and the coaching staff will vote on the swimmers receiving the awards, and the results must be kept
confidential until the award is presented. There is no requirement to present any of the below awards. Discretion is
given to the Head Coach and Assistant Head Coaches to present any of the below awards. The awards are intended
solely to honor achievements by the swimmers. The followin g awards may be presented by the Coaching staff at the
end of the season:
1. Participation Award - Each swimmers will receive a participation certificate, medal, or trophy whichever the
team can afford.
2. Most Improved Swimmer - This is a swimmer that not only shaved seconds off their time but also improved in
the way they practiced, participated, showed over all improvement and competed in a minimum of our individual
events during the season. This award can be given to one girl and one boy from each age group (8&U; 9-10;
11-12; 13-14 and 15-19) at the coach's discretion.
3. Coaches Award - This award is based on several different performance areas. This award will be given to one
girl and one boy from age group (8&U; 9-10; 11-12; 13-14 and 15-19). At a minimum the following areas will
be taken into consideration:
1. Performance and dedication at practice.
2. Perfomance at the meets against their age group competitors.
3. Putting forth the extra effort consistently.
4. Swimming an event that is needed for the team
(regardless of the swimmers preference).
4. Most Valuable Swimmer (MVS) - Only one award for Most Valuable Swimmer will be presented. This swimmer
not only must meet the requirements for coaches' award but also must be a leader on the team throughout the
season. This swimmer should have consistently exhibited superior preformance, strong character traits for
leadership, integrity, honor and citizenship. Coaches will vote for the winner of this award.
5. Swimmers Choice Award - The swimmers will choose amongst themselves a teammate who, in their opinion,
exhibit consistent superior performance, strong character traits of leadership, integrity, honor and
citizenship.
